January is Glaucoma Awareness Month and here at Today’s Vision Willowbrook we love to share information and spread awareness about eye disease. Did you know that glaucoma is the second leading cause of possible blindness in adults? Over 2.7 million Americans are living with glaucoma and there are estimates by experts that as many as half of them don’t know they have it. This startling realization highlights the importance of regular eye exams and shows the need to spread the word about glaucoma awareness.

Some parents, who wouldn't dream of allowing their young teens to fire a gun in a crowd, buy fireworks and hand them over to their children. Perhaps just as dangerous are the adults -- who may have had too much alcohol to drink or who tend to ignore directions -- who try to create their own fireworks displays.
